THEATRE WEST VIRGINIA’S SUMMER DRAMA CAMP

Have you ever been called a drama queen? A show-off? Class Clown?  Well, Theatre West Virginia can help you live up to those titles—and turn them into compliments!  Theatre West Virginia is conducting a summer drama camp, the week of August 6 through August 10. Classes including Musical Theatre and Acting will be offered at TWV’s Mabscott Studio and Offices and are open to anyone aged seven and older.

The Musical Theatre class is scheduled from 9 am until 12 Noon daily, and will be taught by TWV actress Sarah Swiger.  Swiger, a TWV performer since 2009, holds a BA in Musical Theatre from West Virginia Wesleyan College.  She has had roles in Footloose,  All Shook Up, Wiliy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, and Rocket Boys the Musical.  In addition, she portrays Melindy Hawkins in Honey in the Rock and Levicy Hatfield in Hatfields & McCoys.  Sarah has been part of TWV’s educational touring troupe, and has served as an instructor in TWV’s Professional Training Academy, teaching voice, stage combat, and a musical theatre scene study class.

Chris Bellinger earned his BA in Production from Clemson University, and has performed across the eastern half of the country—from Chicago to New York.  He spent the spring touring Canada and the Pacific Northwest with the Missoula Children’s Theatre Company doing their Pied Piper Tour.  He has also worked with the Orlando Shakespeare Theatre.  This season, Chris is returning to TWV as Cantrell in Honey in the Rock, as well as portraying Randall McCoy in Hatfields and McCoys.  He is also reprising his role as Homer Hickam, Sr., in Rocket Boys the Musical, beginning August 1 at Cliffside Amphitheatre.  He is this year’s Fight Captain and head pyro technician. Chris will conduct the Acting class during the Drama Camp from 1 pm to 4 pm daily.

Tuition for the Summer Drama Camp is $110 per class, or $185 to attend both sessions. At the week’s conclusion, a recital will be performed for attendees’ family and friends in Studio A in Mabscott.
